Learn how to create ribs! In this class we will review how to fully operate a knitting machine with the ribber bed to create different types of fabrics. The class lessons will also include ribber fabric terminology and how to read and write cam diagrams to be able to take notes about your own swatches and designs. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated.

All materials will be provided.

Prerequisites: Intro to Machine Knitting Class, or have a basic understanding of how to use a knitting machine.

Date & Time: This class includes two sessions on consecutive Sundays. 2/28 & 3/7, 9:30-12:30.

Get ready for fall by knitting your own customized, wool cowl!

In this class, you will design and create a two-color patterned knitted cowl. We will start with a basic introduction to machine knitting and practice by making a small sample swatch. Then we will get to work knitting our own projects. Each student will have access to their own knitting machine for the entire class.

The best part about this class?? NO previous experience hand or machine knitting required!

All project materials will be provided. You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks to the class.

Partial knitting (or short rows) significantly expands what can be knitted on the machine.

Learn to create shoulder slopes, bust darts, sock heels, and button holes in addition to more decorative textures and three-dimensional fabrics.

In this class we will review how partial knitting is achieved on a knitting machine and various ways to use it in developing a garment or object. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. The entire class uses a single bed machine. If you are also interested in learning to use the ribber attachment, please find details for our ribber classes here.

All materials will be provided.

Prerequisites: A basic understanding of how to use a knitting machine is recommended, but not required.

Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. These techniques will include how to cast on and bind off your knitting, designing a striped pattern and how to create simple shaping at the selvedges of your fabric. Get ready for fall by knitting your own customized, wool cowl!

In this class, you will design and create a two-color patterned knitted cowl. We will start with a basic introduction to machine knitting and practice by making a small sample swatch. Then we will get to work knitting our own projects. Each student will have access to their own knitting machine for the entire class.

The best part about this class?? NO previous experience hand or machine knitting required!

All project materials will be provided. You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks to the class.

Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. Inspired by the Scandinavian heritage of our neighborhood, these wool mittens feature the classic pointed shape and simple geometric colorwork closely associated with Northern Europe’s textile traditions.

In this class, we will walk you through how to knit your very own pair of mittens on a single-bed knitting machine. Techniques include a patterned turned hem, using the holding function to knit in sections, how to make a simple thumb gore, and utilizing waste yarn mid-knitting to hold live stitches. A copy of the pattern and very detailed instructions are included with the class.

Each student will have their own knitting machine for the entire class, and you’ll get to choose your favorite color combination and pattern from a small collection of options.

All project materials will be provided. You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks to the class.

Prerequisites: This is an Intermediate Level Class. Participants should be comfortable transferring stitches, using the hold-function on the carriage and rehanging live stitches from waste yarn. (no ribber experience required)

Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. These techniques will include how to cast on and bind off your knitting, designing a striped pattern and how to create simple shaping at the selvedges of your fabric. Prefer to get in all done in just a few days? Or coming in from out of town for the classes? Then this intensive is for you!

Day 1: Intro to Machine Knitting (casting-on, binding-off, shaping and single bed finish hems)

Day 2: Punchcard Patterning (fair isle, miss and tuck stitches, lace) and Partial Knitting (or short rowing)

Day 3: All things Ribber! (learn how to make trims and a variety of fabrics with the ribber attachment)

Day 4: Basic garment shaping, necklines, and garment assembly.

All materials will be provided including yarn and helpful handouts. This is a hands-on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create collection of swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated.

Learn what a punchcard knitting machine does best: Patterning!

In this class, you will learn the different types of stitches achievable on a knitting machine and how you can use punchcards to easily program them into various patterns. Patterning will include miss stitches, tuck stitches and two-color fair isle designs. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. The entire class uses a single bed machine. Learn how to create ribs! In this class we will review how to fully operate a knitting machine with the ribber bed to create different types of fabrics. The class lessons will also include ribber fabric terminology and how to read and write cam diagrams to be able to take notes about your own swatches and designs. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated.

All materials will be provided.

Prerequisites: Intro to Machine Knitting Class, or have a basic understanding of how to use a knitting machine.

Date & Time: This class includes two sessions on consecutive Sundays. 2/28 & 3/7, 9:30-12:30.

Get ready for fall by knitting your own customized, wool cowl!

In this class, you will design and create a two-color patterned knitted cowl. We will start with a basic introduction to machine knitting and practice by making a small sample swatch. Then we will get to work knitting our own projects. Each student will have access to their own knitting machine for the entire class.

The best part about this class?? NO previous experience hand or machine knitting required!

All project materials will be provided. You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks to the class.

Learn what a punchcard knitting machine does best: Patterning!

In this class, you will learn the different types of stitches achievable on a knitting machine and how you can use punchcards to easily program them into various patterns. Patterning will include miss stitches, tuck stitches and two-color fair isle designs. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. The entire class uses a single bed machine. Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class.
