Pattern Materials

Yarn: light-fingering wool (2800 ypp)

Machine: 4.5mm standard gauge knitting machine (single bed only)…or try it on a bulky machine for a huge ornament!

Gauge: 32 needles x 48 rows = 4x4 inch square

Accessories and tools: transfer tools, tapestry needle, ravelcord (optional), waste yarn and stuffing

In this class, you will design and create a two-color patterned knitted cowl. We will start with a basic introduction to machine knitting and practice by making a small sample swatch. Then we will get to work knitting our own projects. Each student will have access to their own knitting machine for the entire class.

The perfect Seattle winter accessory.

In this class, you’ll design and knit your very own pair of wool fingerless mitts! We’ll start with a quick introduction to machine knitting, then jump right into the project.

You’ll learn how to knit a mock-rib cuff and create two-color Fair Isle patterns using a punchcard. Each student will have their own knitting machine for the entire class, and you’ll get to choose your favorite color combination and pattern from a small collection of options.

Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. These techniques will include how to cast on and bind off your knitting, designing a striped pattern and how to create simple shaping at the selvedges of your fabric.
