The Instructor
Hi! I’m Christine, your nerdy knitting teacher and founder of The Seattle Knitting Lab. I’m also the designer behind a small local knitwear brand, COMMAND knitwear.
Originally trained as an architect, it took me a while to discover machine knitting, but once I did, I was hooked. Before I even knew how to properly operate one, I was already scouring the internet to buy my first Brother knitting machine.
As my curiosity grew, I began studying the craft more seriously, including courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and in-person workshops with Helen Sharp at The Knitting School, where I deepened my understanding of knit structures and machine knitting techniques.
My background in architecture strongly influences how I approach knitting, thinking about fabric as a system of structure, geometry, and material behavior. I love helping students understand not just how to make something, but why the machine and the yarn behave the way they do.
Ten years later, I’m still fascinated by these simple yet sophisticated machines and love discovering new techniques and developing textiles with them. I’m excited to share that passion with all of you and help you build the skills to create beautiful, professional-quality knit textiles.
